Kerala Blasters Army Scores Big for the Planet with ‘A Tree for a Goal’ Drive
Kochi, June 10, 2025 — In a heartwarming fusion of football spirit and environmental consciousness, the Kerala Blasters Army, the official supporters’ club of Kerala Blasters FC, has successfully completed its green initiative “A Tree for a Goal”—a one-of-a-kind campaign that turned sporting glory into sustainable action.
Between June 1 and June 7, the campaign unfolded across all districts of Kerala, where 52 saplings were planted—each symbolizing one of the 52 goals scored by the team throughout the 2024–25 season, which included the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup.
🌳 One Goal, One Tree, One Vision
Rooted in a simple yet meaningful concept, the campaign sought to honor each goal not with celebration alone, but with a living tribute to the earth. With every tree, the fans reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability—proving that true supporters contribute both on and off the field.
“This isn’t just about football,” a Kerala Blasters Army representative shared. “It’s about translating our passion into something that nurtures the future—both for the sport and the environment.”
🌱 Leaders on the Ground: From Ministers to Coaches
The initiative drew notable participation from dignitaries like State Agriculture Minister Sri. P. Prasad, who emphasized the importance of grassroots environmental action. Also joining hands was Kerala Blasters assistant coach T.G. Purushothaman, lending the campaign a touch of football heritage and solidarity.
The movement was orchestrated by a core team of dedicated Kerala Blasters Army coordinators: Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad, who ensured smooth execution of the campaign across Kerala’s diverse terrains.
💛 Fans Who Lead Beyond the Stands
Since its formation in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has redefined what it means to be a football supporter. While known for creating an electrifying matchday atmosphere at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, the Army has consistently led meaningful community-driven projects—from blood donation camps to grassroots football programs.
With “A Tree for a Goal,” they’ve now rooted football fandom into the soil of Kerala—literally.
🌍 A Greener Goalpost Ahead
What started as a week-long campaign is now set to become an annual tradition. The Kerala Blasters Army hopes to engage school students, eco-clubs, and local bodies in future editions, aiming to amplify climate consciousness through the lens of sports.
“Our dream is to grow a forest of goals,” said Abhijith K.S. “Let every season’s success echo not only in the stands, but also in the leaves of trees we plant together.”
